Child Care Laws

The State of Kansas requires that all persons who are providing care for a child who is not a relative, for more than 20 hours per week (per child, must be licensed or registered by the State.

If you are interested in obtaining a child care license contact the Junction City/Geary County Health Department at 785-762-5788. Applications are available at the Health Department. 

A state certified licensing consultant will assist you through the application process.

There are a number of things that you should know when selecting a care provider. All licensed providers are required to have their license posted in their homes. Providers are required to have a program for the children in their care, balanced meals, and a safe play environment. Take the time to check these items out before enrolling your child in care.
