The role of environmental health is to oversee and insure that a community has clean water, proper removal and treatment of sewage, proper management of waste, and food protection. In addition, environmental health provides emergency services in times of disaster. Disaster response includes safety of the health of the community, protection of water and wells, establishing shelters, overseeing mass casualty, investigating domestic animal loss, and confirming proper disposal of animal waste.
