History

The Board of Health was established on July 1, 1949, by a joint resolution of the City & County Commissioners. The board consists of seven members: one County Commissioner, one City Commissioner, one Medical Consultant from the Geary County Medical Society, and four at large members from the community.

Our vision statement is:

"Promoting and Protecting the Health of the People and their Environment."

Our mission statement:

  • To prevent disease
  • To investigate communicable diseases
  • To monitor the health status of the community
  • To educate the community about health issues
