Maternal and Infant Services FAQ's
Who qualifies for the M&I services?
Any woman who is pregnant and lives in Geary County can enroll in M&I services.
Will I need a pregnancy test from the Health Department before enrolling?
A pregnancy test is taken to determine how many weeks you are in your pregnancy. You will receive a copy of this pregnancy test to take to WIC and SRS.
How can I enroll in services?
Pregnancy tests are performed during walk-in hours, and you do not need an appointment for a pregnancy test. If your pregnancy test is positive, a nurse consultant will talk to you about enrolling into M&I.
What is Prenatal Care Group?
Prenatal Care Group is a fun way to receive information about pregnancy and visit your nurse consultant with a group of women that you meet during the sessions. You can become friends with other expectant moms, ask your nurse questions, and have snacks and crafts. You will receive a phone call or mailed invitation to join Prenatal Care Group when you enroll in M&I.
When are M&I Appointments?
M&I appointments are: Monday – Thursday from 8:00AM – 3:45PM, and Friday 8:00AM to 2:00PM. When you enroll in M&I, you will receive an invitation in the mail for Prenatal Care Group Session times.
