The goal of WIC is to improve the health and nutritional well-being of Kansans through access to:

  • Quality nutrition intervention services by a registered/licensed dietitian and registered nurse;
  • Breastfeeding promotion and support;
  • Nutrition education and referrals to other health services

The program provides nutrition education and supplemental foods to income eligible Kansas women who are pregnant, postpartum or are breastfeeding. Services are also provided to infants and children under the age of 5 years. These services are free of charge to Kansas families who qualify.

To qualify for WIC services you must:

  • Live in Kansas
  • Meet the income guidelines Ex: (Family of 4) Monthly: $3400.00
  • Have a medical or nutritional need

The supplemental foods that WIC offers are:

  • Infant formula, infant cereal, baby food - fruits/vegetables and meats
  • Milk-whole, reduced, lactose free, evaporated, nonfat dry
  • Eggs
  • Cheese
  • Fresh, canned or frozen fruits and vegetables
  • 100% juice
  • Hot and cold cereal
  • Peanut butter
  • Canned or dried beans
  • Fish-tuna or salmon
  • Whole grains- whole wheat bread/rolls/buns, tortillas, brown rice, oatmeal

To get on WIC call and a WIC staff person will give you an appointment. The WIC number is 785-762-5682. By making a WIC appointment, you have taken an important first step to keep you and your family healthy.
